Face
Face
This colourful portrait is striking for many reasons. This close-up picture of a face is very difficult to ignore, and the almost challenging look adds to the intrigue. I like how this reminds me of when Fauvism started. Fauvism, is a style of painting that gained popularity in France in the early 1900's. Fauvists used pure, brilliant colour aggressively, shocking a lot of 'traditionalists'. The liked the canvases to almost look like an explosion of colour, and it caused quite a stir when things weren't painted in their traditional colours anymore.
This 40 x 50cm image is beautiful and fun to paint. It has 26 colours and is not too challenging. Each box contains a stretched, printed and numbered canvas, paint, brushes and a page detailing the numbers for an extra reference.
