London
London
I still remember the first time I braved the tubes by myself, to go and see Tower Bridge. I was in London on a holiday visa for a 2 month period with my sister and a few friends. I was not very well-traveled and this big city was a totally new world to me. I really wanted to see Tower Bridge and after the a month of all work and no play I decided to brave the tubes by myself. I was still pretty clueless about where I was going, but I made it in time before the tubes closed, I saw the bridge and made it back to where I needed to be, all by myself. Since that first visit I went over to London again later in my life and lived there for 2 years. It is such a vibrant city, to me it seemed that anything is possible there. This canvas will bring back a lot of fond memories for me (and a few not so fond ;), but it is all part of life and it's learnings.
London, a city with so much history and one that many a South African went to work in. This is the city with the Big Ben, Mind the Gap, Buckingham Palace and the Cullinan diamond, to name but a few.
Here are a few fun facts about this city:
- London is in fact, the smallest city in England. The megacity most of us know as London is know as 'Greater London', while the actual City of London has a population of just over 9000 people.
- The density of trees and greenery in the city allows classification as a forest, according to the UN definition.
- There are more Indian restaurants in London than in Mumbai!
- More than half of the London Underground runs above ground.
- This city gets about 8 million visitors per day.
- There are other cities called London as well - In the US there are 10, Canada 1 and France also has a London.

This canvas and it's pastel colours can be a nice reminder of time spent in London. It is a 40 x 50cm canvas and is not too challenging with it's 26 colours. Each box contains a stretched, printed and numbered canvas, paint, brushes and a page detailing the numbers for an extra reference.
