Wheatfields with Cypresses
Wheatfields with Cypresses
Van Gogh has a way, I am sure you would agree. He painted everyday scenes around him, but gave it so much life. His swirling clouds and fields looks like it is swaying in the wind while you look at it. My son (4) thinks his beloved cypresses look like fire.
This landscape was painted in 1889 and two very similar ones were produced after this one as gifts for his mother and sister, as he regarded this painting as one of his best landscapes. Like a lot of his work, he painted it outside and sent drawings of it to his brother, Theo.
This 40 x 50cm version of Van Gogh's wheatfields is very challenging and has 26 colours.
